Crickets future...not a bright one if you ask me

I remember whence i was a kid when someone said cricket men in whites and funny mustaches was all that my mind could conjure up. Cricket used to be 5 day affair and players often had something else to earn their livelihood and played cricket when they got the time. That was when the Dennis Lillies, and Gary Sobers and the Gavaskars of the world played cricket.
In contrast today's cricket is merely like a trailer to the main movie. Colourful garb, painted faces and 20-20? Whats next? Tennis ball cricket played with a stump? On the upside viewership has increased manifold, and cricket can make you one of the worlds richest people, playing cricket or otherwise.
In todays world the Dravids and the Bravos of the world are looked like they accidently took the wrong stop whilst time travelling. Nobody wears the baggy green caps anymore, no one has the Einstein hairdo and funny mustaches anymore. Ah the spirit of cricket has been crushed.
What was wrong with Test cricket I wonder, it took too long they said, and made it shorter, one day affair. And then some genius had this spark that maybe we could shorten it and it would be better, bless the sod. The last time I heard they were going to introduce pink cricket balls and have funny bats which could be used from both sides.
They dont make bowlers anymore, simply blokes who are too clumsy to bat are made to run like hell and throw the ball at the blokes who can hold the bat upright. Spinners can play mind games better than your shrink but can hardly make it turn! And the batsmen who can play a forward defensive stroke or two is usually left with the drinks and towels for those who can belt 'em. Its hardly cricket anymore, maybe they can suggest a new name for the game, I would be happier then. You can label me a pessimist or a traditionalist however you cant call a goldfish a shark and justify it by saying its the new thing. Bring it back I say.. Bring the real cricket back..

Dhruva v/s "The form"

I, recently having tricked someone into employing me, am going to get paid for my efforts. Hence I find the need to open an account in a bank. I have a wide choice of 2 banks to open an account with, namely HDFC and Axis bank. Excellent. Since I tend to run as far away from any geometrical sounding terms, naturally I shirked away from Axis and went in for the other choice. That is where it all began. How hard can it be to get yourself a silly piece of paper called an “ account opening form ?” Well the answer is Very with a capital V! My poor mum was the first person to have unsuccessfully tried to acquire the said form; she came back flustered not having remembered the name and address of my company. And hence I was personally required to get short leave and get myself a form. Fair enough, I did so at the next opportunity I got. Asked my HR executive where the nearest HDFC bank outlet was and I was on my way. Alas I was informed that the systems in the bank were down and ...

Bad Motoring.. An out of the box solution!

If you live in Pune, or anywhere in India for that matter you may have come across dozens of people who flout traffic rules, park haphazardly, or drive or ride with a complete disregard to their own wellbeing or the safety of pedestrians and other road users. Tell you what, I have an ingenious plan to get rid of all the people in my city who either drive badly, park badly, violate traffic rules and generally piss you off. Here is how I plan to go about it. Step 1:We start a fund to support this drive. Step 2:We buy me an old T72B Russian Made battle tank. Step 3:I either bulldoze/flatten or use my bazooka to get people to comply. Its going to work, trust me. And this is the best solution, well apart from having the Italian Mafia marksmen shoot them down on all days excepts Tuesday if it happens to be the 29 of any month, however its not going to be as entertaining while dealing with the problem. Be it the student cyclist or the bloke on the motorcycle, the cute girl on her scooty, ev...

Microlearning!

If you are familiar with the story of David and Goliath, you would probably know that David was tiny while Goliath was a giant. However, David with his slingshot brought down the mighty giant. Moral of the story: A small but effective solution can overcome even a mighty problem.                 Coming swiftly to the point now, I propose that the exact same principal can be applied to adult learning. Micro learning - training broken down into short yet informative bits has proven to be beneficial to the learning needs of the millennials. This concept embraces teaching a concise topic which is then tested or applied immediately afterwards.                 Research suggests that 90% of all information taught in a traditional classroom setting is lost within 12 months!  To counter this, micro Learning rejigs your training progr...
